Bruce Hall was the first residential Hall to be built at ANU. Founded in 1961, it was named after Stanley Melbourne Bruce who was Prime Minister of Australia from 1923 to 1929. |

Bruce Hall provides 240 catered rooms and 78 self-catered rooms (Packard Wing) each with a single bed, wardrobe, desk, chair and washbasin. The rooms are centrally heated and carpeted and are the largest rooms available on the ANU campus. Toilet and shower facilities are located on each floor and are shared by male and female residents (catered residents only). Floorplan for a standard room. |

All rooms have internet connections. We also have a Computer Lab that contains PC’s and Macintoshes. The Hall also has an extensive intranet, administered by residents. |

Union Court, lecture halls and shops are just a few minutes walk away. Canberra’s CBD is also within walking distance and buses depart regularly from outside the hall to all major shopping centres. |

A University parking permit must be purchased before you are issued with a Resident parking permit which will allow you to park in Bruce Hall designated areas. Canberra's network of bike paths and public transport is quite good, so we encourage residents to save money and not bring a car. |

Residents rooms are cleaned once a week (catered rooms only) by the Hall's housekeeping staff. Communal bathrooms are cleaned daily. Vacuum cleaners may be borrowed from the Hall if necessary. Bruce Hall has regular room inspections in the self-catered wing (Packard) |

To me, the most impressive aspect of life in Bruce Hall is the initiative and responsibility students take for promoting vigour and quality of community life and the care they exercise for each other.
