Fenner Hall is named in honour of Emeritus Professor Frank Fenner who is not
only one of the ANU’s most distinguished scholars, but also one of the world’s
most eminent scientists. We support individuals to achieve significant personal
growth through participation in Hall activities providing opportunities to
develop quality organizational and leadership skills.

Fenner Hall provides 510 rooms over 18 floors in 2 towers. Each room has a
single bed, desk, chair and wardrobe. Residents share bathroom facilities with
others on the floor. Each residential floor develops a community of 27 members
who are invited to become involved in all of the Hall’s activities.

We are in walking distance to the ANU, the restaurants of Braddon, O’Connor,
Civic and Dickson. There is a takeaway and corner store is just 50 metres away.
Fenner provides buses to the fresh food markets on Sundays and to the
supermarket on Thursday nights. A free bus runs between Fenner and the ANU on
weekdays during the academic year.

Each floor has a Senior Resident and we also have a dedicated team of
Academic Assistants. Duty Wardens operate outside of office hours so there is
always someone to call on should you require urgent assistance. Academic
Assistants organise study groups, which are especially helpful around exam time.
We have a number of study rooms and a small library. Our International Contact
Officers assist international students to settle in and Fenner Green encourages
environmental activities in Hall. Our Fenner Residents’ Committee organises
social events, sporting competitions and arts events.

Fenner offers 3 music rooms to those who wish to practise playing for study
or recreation. The Fenner Hall Band re-forms every year, and comprises new and
returning residents. Residents also organise the annual Fenner Hall musical.

The laundry is free. Each floor has a laundry with washer, dryer, drying
room, iron and ironing board.

Parking is free to residents. A valid Fenner Hall parking permit must be
displayed. Canberra's network of bike paths and public transport is excellent,
so we encourage residents to save money and not bring a car.

Students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms. Vacuum cleaners can be
borrowed from the Senior Resident on each floor. Recycling is strongly
encouraged.
