ANU RENTAL PROPERTIES
About our properties
The ANU owns a small portfolio of one & two bedroom apartments offered as
'staging' accommodation. Successful applicants will have a transitional place to
stay while familiarising themselves with Canberra and making permanent housing
arrangements.
- Apartments are fully furnished, complete with linen, crockery, cutlery and
appliances.
- The 2 bedroom apartments are ideal for small families (maximum 2 children).
Who is eligible to apply?
Our accommodation is available to staff and
Postgraduate students who are 'new' and relocating to the ACT
for the first time. Due to the high demand we are not able to assist
current ACT residents. Priority is given to applications who
have not previously lived in ANU accommodation.

- General & Academic ANU Staff members
- Other personnel may be eligible for accommodation but only
at the discretion of the Vice Chancellor

The Application process
You will need to submit an online application form.
Once you have applied and your eligibility is verified, you will receive an
email confirming your application is being considered. As we have only a small
number of properties, we will also provide you with information on other
accommodation options.
Our properties are to assist 'new' arrivals, if you are not allocated
a property within 6 weeks of arriving in Canberra it is unlikely a vacancy will
arise. We do not maintain a waiting list
Lodgement of an application does NOT guarantee you will be allocated a
property. It is vital you explore other accommodation options – do not arrive
without making prior arrangements. All offers are subject to availability and
eligibility.
Length of tenancies available
As our rental properties are 'staging' accommodation we offer the following
tenancies:
- Course/appointment of 12 months or less – tenancy for full length of stay up
to 12 months
- Program/appointment of 12 months – maximum tenancy is 6 months
- Relocating general & academic staff – maximum tenancy is 3 months
- We normally require a minimum of 3 months stay.
Location & rent per week (from July 2008)

1 bedroom – $250 per week
2 bedroom - $340 per week
2 bedroom – $450 per week
1 bedroom – $380 per week
2 bedroom – $400 per week

Service Fee
A $300 non-refundable service fee is payable by all tenants at the time of
key collection. This fee covers fit out items provided in the apartment and the
professional cleaning of your carpets and laundering of linen at the end of the
tenancy. This fee does not cover damage to the property or routine cleaning
Utilities – Electricity, Gas & Telephone
Electricity & gas are not included in the rental price,
it is an additional expense. The tenant is responsible for the connection and
charges of these utilities.
